Devonport Retirement Village is operated by Devonport Village Limited, a registered retirement village at 46 King Edward Parade, Devonport, Auckland. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
When you send an enquiry through this website we collect what you give us: your name, phone number, email address, the kind of enquiry you have chosen, which villa you are interested in, how soon you are thinking of moving, and anything you write in the message. We do not ask for more than we need. If you contact us directly by phone or email, we collect what you tell us in the same way. This website is hosted by Webflow, whose servers also record ordinary technical information such as your IP address and browser type in the course of delivering the page to you.
We use it for the purpose you gave it to us — to answer your enquiry, call or email you back, arrange a viewing, send you an information pack, or add you to the waiting list if that is what you have asked for. We will not use it for other purposes unless the Privacy Act allows it or you agree.
We do not sell or trade personal information. Enquiries are read by the Village Manager and by the owners of Devonport Village Limited. Our service providers hold information on our behalf in the course of providing their services: Webflow, which hosts this website and stores form submissions; the providers of our email accounts; Google, which provides the analytics described below; and Meta Platforms, which provides the advertising measurement described below. Beyond that, we do not share your information unless we need to in order to answer your enquiry, you ask us to, or the law requires it.
The servers used by Webflow, Google and Meta are located outside New Zealand, so enquiries sent through this website and the analytics and advertising information described below are stored overseas. The Privacy Act continues to apply to how we handle your information, and we only use providers we consider will keep it safe.
We will not send you marketing unless you have agreed to receive it, and you can change your mind at any time by telling us.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this website — which pages are visited, how long people stay, and roughly where visitors come from. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects technical information including your IP address, which is anonymised before it is stored. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, and we do not use it to identify you personally. Two pages also include content served by other companies: a map on the Contact page provided by Google, and a video on the Our Village page provided by Vimeo. Those companies may set their own cookies when that content loads, under their own privacy policies. The video is configured to ask Vimeo not to track you. This website also uses the Meta pixel, a small piece of code provided by Meta Platforms, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. We use it for two purposes. The first is measurement: seeing how many people who view our advertising go on to visit this website and which pages they look at, so we can judge whether that advertising is worth continuing. The second is advertising audiences: Meta can show our advertising on Facebook and Instagram to people who have visited this website, and to other people whose profiles Meta considers similar to those visitors. The pixel sets cookies and sends Meta technical information including your IP address and the pages you view here, and where you have a Facebook or Instagram account it allows Meta to match that activity to you. Meta may use that information for its own purposes under its own privacy policy. We do not send Meta the contents of any enquiry you make through this website, and we do not use enquiry details to build advertising audiences. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, install Google's opt-out browser add-on, or adjust your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences, without affecting your ability to use this website. Adjusting your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences is the most reliable way to limit being shown our advertising.
This website is served over a secure connection. Enquiries are held in Webflow's systems and in the email accounts of the people who receive them, and are only accessible to the people who need them. We take reasonable steps to keep that information safe, but no system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us over the internet.
We keep enquiries for as long as they are useful to the conversation you have started with us, and delete them when they are not. If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, ask and we will do it.
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. There is no charge, and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information or your request, you can complain to us first, and if we cannot resolve it, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
